Event: Legends for Charity Dinner Presenting The Pat Summerall Award
January 31, 2019
Venue: Atlanta Marriott Marquis
Presented by: KBR
The Super Bowl came to the ATL and brought parties galore! ELP was honored to work with Oceans 2 Oceans Productions Inc., out of Miami, who founded and produces the popular Legends for Charity Dinner during Super Bowl week.
The fund-raising event brings together sports media legends during the week of the NFL’s biggest event to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In fact, it was ELP’s earlier work for St. Jude’s which resulted in the Legends opportunity.
The event is also a tribute to legendary broadcaster Pat Summerall whom St. Jude’s president, Richard Shadyac Jr., said was a “dear friend of St. Jude. He helped shape Legends for Charity, and graciously lent his name and prestige to make this event one of the most anticipated of Super Bowl week.”
During the evening, The Pat Summerall award is presented each year to a deserving individual in the sports broadcast industry. The 2019 Pat Summerall award winner was Bill Cowher, a studio analyst for CBS Sports and Super Bowl XL winning coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers. ELP was honored to dress the stage for such a momentous spotlight.
The star-studded evening allowed us to meet many legends. We enjoyed football greats Hines Ward, Tony Dungy, and James Brown. The beautiful and gracious Cheri Summerall was in the house, and we chatted with Hannah Storm, the evening’s MC. One of our biggest privileges was meeting Bailey, a dynamic, 13-year-old who is an osteosarcoma survivor. His mother shared how Bailey’s family found joy at St. Jude.
It surely was a Legendary evening… a SUPER night for a SUPER cause!
